Alistair Macdonald appointed board advisor of music technology company, Audoo

Audoo, the music technology company on a mission to revolutionise public performance royalties, has appointed Alistair Macdonald, former CEO of a NASDAQ listed Contract Research Organisation Syneos Health (SYNH) turning over $5bn a year, as a board advisor. The renowned CEO has over three decades of experience across Manufacturing, Consulting, Clinical, Commercial and Private Equity sectors.

Having collectively raised £14m funding by the end of 2022, including investments from MPL Ventures and Bjorn Ulvaeus (ABBA/CISAC), Audoo’s Audio Meters™ have been widely rolled out in Australia and New Zealand, to improve accuracy, transparency and reporting in quasi real-time to aid licensees, Performance Right Organisations (PROs), Collective Management Organisations (CMOs) and, ultimately, music creators.

Macdonald will be joining the newly appointed Audoo Chairman, Nigel Elderton. Elderton is the European president of the global independent music publisher Peermusic and former Chairman of PRS for Music. Adding to the breadth of experience held by Audoo’s senior team, from household names like Visa and Vodafone to music giants such as Shazam and Bowers & Wilkins, Macdonald brings a global business perspective.

Macdonald’s experience at Syneos Health, as well as additional experience as the Chairman of the Association of Clinical Research Organisations, and other governance experience, will be utilised at Audoo to help accelerate their international growth.

Alistair Macdonald said, “Having been the CEO of a global biopharmaceutical organisation for 6 years and over two decades in Executive Management, I’m very excited to bring my expertise to Audoo and the world of music. The music industry is something new to me, but using my experience I will be assisting Audoo’s expansion around the world, helping PROs and CMOs to digitalise, modernise and streamline their processes, ensuring music creators receive fair royalties for their work. Joining such a talented team with a diverse range of experiences both from within and outside the music industry is something I’m looking forward to.”

Ryan Edwards, founder and CEO of Audoo, said, “Alistair has a wealth of experience and management skills that are hard to come by. Having been the CEO of a NASDAQ listed company employing over 28,000 people globally it’s an honour to welcome him to our team. His guidance will be invaluable both to Audoo’s expansion into further international markets, our British manufacturing and strategic company growth delivering for our investors.”
